Tiger balm, what it is used for
The tiger balsam has been a remedy used for more than 100 years in Asian countries: in fact, it is said to date back to the time of the Chinese empire. A great natural product for muscle pain worth trying.
It is an ointment formulated with several essential oils that have balsamic, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, antibacterial, and antifungal action.
In fact, tiger balm it is used to relieve:
- back pain
- headaches
- muscle and joint tension and pain
- cold
- nasal congestion
- flu-related symptoms
- fungus affecting toenails
- mild skin burns
- Bites from mosquitoes and other insects
- disorders related to poor blood circulation.
Because it is an ointment, it should be used by massaging a small amount locally into the area where pain is felt, until fully absorbed and without covering with gauze or bandages.
After application, one will notice the typical cold sensation followed by a warm sensation that may last up to several hours.
Possibly more than one application per day (but no more than 4) can be made.
While presenting no particular undesirable effects, It is possible for tiger balm to cause allergies or skin irritation.
So it is advisable to first try a very small amount on a small area to be treated.
If nothing unusual is noticed in the next 24 hours, then ointment can be used normally.
Where redness, irritation, or itching is noticed, however, it is best to rinse the treated area thoroughly and discontinue use.
The Tiger balsam should be used for topical use only (on the skin without injury or wound) and not for internal use (so it should not be put in the ears, mucous membranes, or intimate parts).
For this, special care should be taken to keep it out of the reach of children.
Because it contains a high amount of essential oils, is preferable not to be used by pregnant women or breastfeeding nor on children under three years of age.
