BRACCIANO – ARSENIC: MAYOR GIULIANO SALA TAKES STOCK OF THE SITUATION

For the’League aqueduct, which mainly serves the’Vigna di Valle area, è has been prepared l’Purchase of new filters to be installed in the dearsenifier alreadyà installed. Meanwhile for the’Fiora aqueduct l’municipal administration is moving in two stages. In fact, it provided for the construction of a temporary dearsenification plant in the short term for a period of six months, time to be able to carry out a tender for the construction of a permanent dearsenification plant.

In the March 5 address resolution in particular, the city council points out that “l’dearsenification plant on a provisional basis will have toà Be related to a flow rate of 80 liters per second…and will have toà have characteristics that will ensure the’effective eligibilityà of’plant to report the parameter of’arsenic within the limits of current regulations”. The estimated expenditure è 200 thousand euros plus VAT.

Another measure concerns the’purchase dearsenification plants to be installed in some public properties for a total expenditure of about 12.500 euros. In’scope of interventions è also planned to build a new well, which, according to surveys conducted, canò provide water to standard in Olmata Street Three Gates on private land and subject in recent weeks of negotiations with the ownerà.

While continuing at this stage the distribution of drinking water by tankers and the service run by the municipal civil protection (the number to call è 348/5858165 by Claudio Pierangelini), new analyses by Asl Rm/F carried out on Feb. 28 and communicated to the municipality on March 7 still record exceedances.

The drawdown carried out in the localityà Rinascente (Lega aqueduct) showed concentrations for florides of 2.3 micrograms per liter and for l’arsenic of 17 micrograms per liter. The sampling carried out in Principe di Napoli Street (Fiora aqueduct) showed arsenic concentrations of 13 micrograms per liter.

“We believe that the mix of interventions put in place – stresses the mayor of Bracciano Giuliano Sala – may be suitable to return to guarantee in a relatively short time drinking water to all the citizens of Bracciano. We are intervening not only with new dearsenifiers but also by programming modalità of mixing the’water. We have also provided funding for small dearsenification plants for middle schools as well.

As for the elementary school cafeteria – Mayor Sala further clarifies – We will provide drinking water until the end of the’school year.
All’Padre Pio hospital the management is taking steps to implement dearsenifiers at the canteen and, in the meantime, we are supplying drinking water. L’purchase of new filters for the’Lega aqueduct will allow usà to also come within the legal limits for the distribution of drinking water in the Vigna di Valle area. For years we have been working on the problem. The exceedances in January, after we were instead below the
10 micrograms per liter as per the provision that came into effect on 1° January 2013, are due to various factors that, with these interventions, we hope to eliminate. We reiterate the choice of self-management of the water resource – Mayor Sala says again – and work to ensure the mostù soon compliant water for all the people of Bracciano”.

It is recalled that to get water to standard in Bracciano è possible at this stage of the two public fountains of dearsenified water on Pratigliolo Street and Macchia Street, as well as the public drinking fountains on the Argenti lakefront.
