Physical activity and healthy lifestyle. Asl Roma 4 for the day against obesity’obesity
For years, obesity has been considered a real disabling disease that reduces the quality and length of life, and is also a likely trigger of many complications that affect people’s health. On the occasion of “Obesity Day” on October 10, 2016, the ASL Roma 4 Company will participate in the event with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle based on simple and daily principles of nutrition and physical education.
Asl Roma 4 will open to the public the obesity and overweight prevention clinics of the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service in Civitavecchia (39 Terme di Traiano Street) and Morlupo (78 Roncacci Street) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Users who flow to the outpatient clinics will be surveyed on their nutritional status by measuring their height, weight and calculating their body mass index, and will be given an anonymous questionnaire on their eating habits and knowledge. Health staff will deliver pamphlets regarding information on proper nutrition and the pivotal principles to be followed, and to be understood not as an ironclad rule of “diet” but as a daily lifestyle based on the very principles that are so extolled by those who know beautiful Italy: the Mediterranean diet, healthy sharing of meals, exercise, rest, and attention to the seasonality and genuineness of food products.
The advice of nutritional specialists is simple to follow if one has the will to improve one’s physical and social status: exercise every day, even a simple 15-minute walk a day is a good start to accustom the body to deeper breathing and gradually more intense muscle work; avoid the use of excessive condiments, alcohol and junk foods in favor of complex carbohydrates, proteins and seasonal vegetables; set achievable goals so as not to get discouraged and not to be obsessed with the scale.
ASL Rome 4 is responding to a worldwide need to safeguard health by opening its doors to inform, prevent, diagnose, and treat this new disease of the modern age’s.
