With a retinal photo diagnoses diabetes: incredible invention at Geneva Motor Show

The 45th Geneva Exhibition of Inventions awarded its grand prize to a Thai exhibitor, M. Tantibundhit, and to its equipment that allows diabetes to be diagnosed through a photograph of the retina. Worldwide, points out Giovanni D’Agata, president of the "Sportello dei Diritti," about 380 million people are affected by diabetes and it could rise to 600 million by 2035. Among other things, the disease manifests itself through deterioration of the retina. With the new mobile application, simple and immediate diagnosis is possible, with an assessment of the severity of the problem. No medical or hospital facility needed.

The photograph – taken in seconds – is sent to a computer program and processed. In total, the show rewarded 52 other inventions among the thousands of novelties presented. The event will go on until Sunday.
